Neuropsychological assessments for clinical, diagnostic, or therapeutic reasons range from $3000 to $4900.
Psychoeducational assessments range from $2700 to $3500.
Psychological assessments, including ADHD assessments, range from $1600 to $3500.
Most medical-legal, court-ordered, and IME assessments have a base fee of $5950. The fee may be higher depending on the complexity of the assessment and on how much documentation there is to review (e.g., medical records).

Health Insurance
Fees for private psychologists are not covered by Nova Scotia Medical Services Insurance (MSI). Clients must pay for services at each appointment. However, fees may be reimbursable if you have health insurance (e.g., Blue Cross, Manulife, Great West Life, Sun Life, Employee Assistance Plans, etc.).
Here are some questions to ask your insurance company:
- Does my insurance plan cover services provided by a registered psychologist?
- Do I need a physician referral? We don't need one to see you, but your insurance provider might require one to reimburse you.
- How much coverage do I have per year?
- How much coverage do I have per appointment? Some plans cover 100% of each appointment fee. Other plans cover only a portion and you pay the difference.
- When does my insurance coverage renew each year? Most plans renew on January 1. This allows you to start with a few appointments in the fall of one year and continue in the New Year using their coverage for the next year. However, some plans renew at different times of the year. Knowing this may help you decide when to start services.
- How do I submit my claim for reimbursement?
The psychologists in our practice are registered in the province of Nova Scotia (through the Nova Scotia Board of Examiners in Psychology) and are also registered Blue Cross providers. We provide receipts that are suitable for reimbursement by all insurance providers. The non-insured fees you pay can be claimed as a medical expense on your income tax return.
